Within the app, there will be a slider to adjust the radius that the consumer is willing to travel for their happy hour plans. There will be pins on each location that the user can click to see what the deals are. When the pin is clicked, it will be enlarged to show more details about the location. Within these details there will be: Business hours of operation, Happy Hour Times, as well as how many “Drinxsters” are currently at that particular establishment. This feature is to help the user gauge how many patrons are there to help them decide whether that is the place they would like to go, as some people prefer less populated spots and others enjoy busy spots (although this will not give the user an EXACT measurement because maybe not everyone who is there uses the app, it will still allow for a rough estimate). In Addition, it will have a timer that will count down the hours, minutes, and seconds that the special lasts for (could include days for establishments that do week long, weekend long, entire day long specials). At the bottom of the enlarged pin, there will be a link that says “more,” which Drinx users can click to go to the business’ page where the business can post their Happy Hour Menu as well as any other promotional items that they please. While I thought of this app for happy hours, it can also be utilized for establishments that do brunch (i.e. Bottomless Mimosas, or other endless drink specials). The timer would come in handy here so that patrons know exactly when the time ends. The App would need to use GPS tracking, Google Maps or Mapbox to track the patrons and be able to allow them to use the radius slider to determine their options. Drinx will also allow users to have their own distinct profile to use while online.Item Driven Health & Fitness Services: A Social Media Strategy(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2023-08-11) Desimone, Bianca; Dr. Lina Gomez-VasquezWorking with Driven Health & Fitness Services, I have identified key points for improvement within their social media presence on Instagram. I have been fat my entire life and have had to endure living in a world that sees my body as subhuman and, therefore, my existence as unwanted and unworthy of basic human decency or respect. This has shaped me into a strong, capable, and self-assured woman. Thus, while I am proud of myself for the deprogramming work I have done to get here, I envision a world where our children will never have to endure these injustices. Fatness isn't something that we can hide or fake like politics, religion, or socio-economic status. It's out there in the open for everyone to see regardless of how we dress or what we say. It's the first thing people see and the most important thing society has been conditioned to judge us on apart from race. However, like all societal systems, it has been constructed by design to establish a hierarchy based on an arbitrary set of rules grounded in white supremacy, religious extremism, and patriarchy. I believe humanity at its core is still good and has the innate ability to create a better world for all of us regardless of body size, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, etc. Enter, FATmate: the best friend you never knew you needed, but always deserved. It is an all-in-one application specifically focused on centering those in marginalized fat bodies by giving them the tools to be their most authentic and confident selves. FATmate helps users realize this through self-curation in the areas of fashion, sustainability, community, medicine, and education.Item Guiding Spirit Organic Garden Demo(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2023-08-11) Arnold, Mikaela; Dr. Santiago EcheverryGuiding Spirit Organic Garden Demo is a 360 virtual tour of my non-for-profit organization, Guiding Spirit Organic Garden Inc. which was founded in October of last year. This ongoing challenge and frustration is what led me to the idea to utilize this capstone opportunity to attempt to find a solution to that problem. In doing so, I will create a business offering customizable planners and calendars. The website will host a digital design space, giving users the ability to fully customize and design their planners to their exact specifications. Parasocial relationships are defined as a psychological phenomenon, with the term being coined in 1956 (Oxford Reference, 2023). When discussing social media platforms as a whole and the potential for a parasocial relationship to be formed, repeated parasocial interactions can lead to a stronger parasocial relationship overall (Thelwall, 2022). Meaning that social media has allowed for parasocial relationships to be created with a new sense of speed and ease. While past research has stated that parasocial relationships have a direct impact on an audience or individuals purchase intentions (Um, 2022), there is little to no research on how the effect of the relationship differs when audiences are encouraged to give to organizations where they receive nothing in return. In order to answer this question and provide context and understanding when discussing how these relationships play a role in donation habits a mixed method approach was taken utilizing both a survey and in-depth interviews to better understand the effect of said relationships. Through this research one is able to conclude that parasocial relationships formed through social media positively and directly affect donations in the nonprofit sector. The importance of this research is two-fold, nonprofit organizations can better understand the types of individuals most affected by parasocial relationships as well as the varying degrees of affect the parasocial relationships have on an audience or individual when giving. This research does not take into account the possible denial of parasocial relationships by the audience. Future research and the nonprofit sector could benefit from exploring how actions encouraged by parasocial relationships change when the relationship is conscious or subconscious.Item Platinum & Gold(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2022-08-10) Barrera, Adam; Dr. Gregg PerkinsMy submission includes my presentation of my podcast.
