I have been fat my entire life and have had to endure living in a world that sees my body as subhuman and, therefore, my existence as unwanted and unworthy of basic human decency or respect. This has shaped me into a strong, capable, and self-assured woman. Thus, while I am proud of myself for the deprogramming work I have done to get here, I envision a world where our children will never have to endure these injustices. Fatness isn't something that we can hide or fake like politics, religion, or socio-economic status. It's out there in the open for everyone to see regardless of how we dress or what we say. It's the first thing people see and the most important thing society has been conditioned to judge us on apart from race. However, like all societal systems, it has been constructed by design to establish a hierarchy based on an arbitrary set of rules grounded in white supremacy, religious extremism, and patriarchy. I believe humanity at its core is still good and has the innate ability to create a better world for all of us regardless of body size, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, etc. Enter, FATmate: the best friend you never knew you needed, but always deserved. It is an all-in-one application specifically focused on centering those in marginalized fat bodies by giving them the tools to be their most authentic and confident selves. FATmate helps users realize this through self-curation in the areas of fashion, sustainability, community, medicine, and education.Item Journey of Love(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2023-08-10) Jassim, Ali; Dr. Gregg PerkinsShedding light on a religious ceremony that takes place in Iraq gathering a massive number of over twenty five million from all over the globe.Item Meds Madness Murder(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2023-05) Sodos, Samara; Dr. Santiago Echeverry; Dr. Gregg PerkinsWhat caused a suburban Tampa mother who seemed to have it all, implode within a matter of minutes? This ongoing challenge and frustration is what led me to the idea to utilize this capstone opportunity to attempt to find a solution to that problem. In doing so, I will create a business offering customizable planners and calendars. The website will host a digital design space, giving users the ability to fully customize and design their planners to their exact specifications. Users choose their covers and binding style, planner start and end date, add custom birthdays and holidays, choose fonts and colors, create custom layouts, add pages and sections, and customize 100% of their planner.Item Ocudate: A Virtual Reality Dating App(MASEM, The University of Tampa, 2023-08-11) Watson, Caroline; Dr. Gregg PerkinsThis is an exclusive virtual reality dating app (developer pitch) that provides safety, security, and compatibillity to its clients.
