| dc.description | Respondez! is published annually by the University of Tampa's Honor Program. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit their nonfiction-research papers, personal essays, critical thought, etc. We welcome written responses to the articles, though the authors are solely responsible for their opinions. We are also receptive to any suggestions you may have concerning the publication. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Respondez! (1992-2015) became Respond, starting with the 2016 issue. Respondez! is a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1871 as a call to action. The Respond staff interprets Whitman’s poem as a call for new, emerging ideas to be brought fourth and challenged. The journal embodies Walt Whitman’s poem by aiming to publish informative research that challenges mainstream assumptions. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Amidst all of my other curricular and extra-curricular commitments, I thoroughly enjoyed having the privilege to carry on the torch, and interact with the greatest minds at the University of Tampa. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Now that my duties as Editor-in-Chief are finally complete, I can say with the utmost sincerity that I hadn't the faintest idea of the challenges that would await me. Producing Respondez! is by no means an easy task; the shear enormity of the amount of pieces that must be collected, edited, placed, polished, and edited again was a job that I admit I may have underestimated. But thankfully, I was not without help. The undying support of my editorial board and the watchful eye of Dr. Luter was a constant source of inspiration and motivation, and it will perhaps be even more difficult to properly thank them for everything they've done in making this year's edition of Respondez! a success. | |
| dc.description.abstract | And although I truly appreciate the poise and dedication of my friends and colleagues, there is one individual whom I believe deserves a dedication in return. As the Editor-in-Chief of last year's edition -of Respondez!, the responsibilities of Chanelle Cox should have (in technicality) ceased the very moment the journal was unveiled with suspense and excitement at Celebrating Honors Day. But as I or anyone else who has had the great joy of working with Chanelle knows, she has never been one to devote anything less than the entirety of her heart and her mind. Despite having undergone the extreme stress of being a nursing student, Chanelle was always able to find (or make) the time to answer any questions or assist with any troubles I was having. It is with the fullest extent of my gratitude and honesty that I say that this edition of Respondez! is as much yours as it is mine or anyone else's, and that I, along with the Honors Program, shall not soon forget the impact you've had on this University. | |
