dc.description.abstract | This essay, written in Methodology of Art Historical Research led by Professor Trentinella, examines the profound artist Edgar Degas. Degas was most known for his artwork involving ballet dancers. His art not only highlights the beauty and grace these dancers encompass but also subtly brings awareness and understanding of the horrid lives many of these dancers faced. My essay examines the feminist theory through a female-dominated workforce and male-dominated consumers, while also studying Marxist ideas between the different classes present during this time and how the distinction between classes that were on stage or in the audience contributed to exploitation and prostitution. | en_US |
