Respondez! is published annually by The University of Tampa Honors Program: Students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit their non-fiction-research papers, personal essays, critical thought, etc. We welcome written responses to the articles, though the authors are solely responsible for their opinions. We are also receptive to any suggestions you may have concerning the publication.
Respondez! (1992-2015) became Respond, starting with the 2016 issue. Respondez! is a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1871 as a call to action. The Respond staff interprets Whitman’s poem as a call for new, emerging ideas to be brought fourth and challenged. The journal embodies Walt Whitman’s poem by aiming to publish informative research that challenges mainstream assumptions.en_US
dc.description.abstract"Implied in the philosophy of Honors at The University of Tampa is the desire to stand at the boundary between the known and the unknown, the perceived and the barely-perceived need and values in our society, between a centered and yet always open and growing self. To give voice to that which because of our prevalent mindset is now voiceless, shape to what now goes unseen, strength and life to that which is crushed and unempowered: this is the creative task to which our Honors learning community commits itself."
Dr. Francis Gillen, founder of The University of Tampa Honors Program
Special thanks to Jennifer Dawson for all her help this year. It was greatly appreciated.
