Abstract
The Global War on Terror has claimed countless lives, cost trillions
of dollars, and has led to complications such as environmental damage
and refugee crises. This essay provides an analysis of the current counterterrorism
strategy of traditional warfare, concluding that this strategy must
be adapted for the modern landscape. By analyzing two case studies, as well
as sources ranging from government documents to polling data to newspapers,
this essay argues that counterterrorism financing is the best strategy
to spearhead global counterterrorism efforts. Counterterrorism financing
proves to be the most reliable, ethical and promising strategy that can bring
an end to a seemingly endless struggle.
