Ruiz) collection "Nuestra América: Latinx Perspectives on Writing, Rhetorics, and Literacies (NCTE)." This talk will propose that Jose Marti's 19th century vision of a uniquely Latin American cultural and political identity can help frame 21st-century research on writing, rhetoric, and literacy in the United States. It describes the possibilities of Marti's vision as well as its problems, and it argues that both can inform productive inquiry into the contemporary literacy practices of diverse Latinx communities.en-US"Nuestra América: Latinx Perspectives on Writing, Rhetorics, and Literacies (NCTE)."Iris D.
