When a woman goes against these norms, it has the power to spark a conversation. This is even evident in female athletes whose talents are overlooked compared to their male counterparts, despite deserving better. The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) have been fighting for their voice in Equal Pay for years. Through using qualitative content analysis, a strongly supported correlation between the USWNT and the #MeToo movement was found through user generated tweets. By continuing this momentum of a female empowerment movement, the situational crisis communication theory can be used to create a more supportive environment for our female athletes.en-US#metooUSWNTSituational crisis communication theoryGendered mediaTwitterFramingThe Correlation Between the #MeToo Movement and U.S. Women's National Soccer TeamThesis
