Respond Vol. 26

Abstract

Respondez! (1992-2015) became Respond, starting with the 2016 issue. Respondez! is a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1871 as a call to action. The Respond staff interprets Whitman’s poem as a call for new, emerging ideas to be brought fourth and challenged. The journal embodies Walt Whitman’s poem by aiming to publish informative research that challenges mainstream assumptions.
OUR MISSION: The mission of Respond is to showcase undergraduate student research papers that are un-biased, fact-based, and well written with scholarly sources. As a staff, we are the messengers to publish accepted submissions and give the UT community the opportunity to read and learn something new.
A QUICK HISTORY: Respond was originally named Respondez! before it's rebranding in 2015. Respondez! is a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1871 as a call to action. The Respond staff interprets Whitman's poem as a call for new, emerging ideas to be brought fourth and challenged. The journal embodies Walt Whitman's poem by aiming to publish informative research that challenges mainstream assumptions. Although we no longer include an excerpt of the poem, we wish to preserve the journal's history. Respond had been published for over 20 years and is now on its 26th issue.
