Respondez! (1992-2015) became Respond, starting with the 2016 issue. Respondez! is a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1871 as a call to action. The Respond staff interprets Whitman’s poem as a call for new, emerging ideas to be brought fourth and challenged. The journal embodies Walt Whitman’s poem by aiming to publish informative research that challenges mainstream assumptions.
I hope you enjoy this year's offering of Respondez! Many people worked very hard to make the 2005 edition a reality. I would like to thank Jen Tarr and Jonathan Ash for helping with the submission posters during a crazy fall semester (four hurricanes, enough said). Melanie Moore once again did a great job finding our cover graphic. I wish to extend a very special thanks to Traci Loudin for helping pick up my slack during a difficult time in my personal life. It has been a pleasure working with this year's editorial board, Respondez! would not exist without their efforts. I would also like to thank Dr. Richard Piper for supporting this publication and inspiring each of us to do our best work. Without Dr. Piper, Respondez! would just be a poem by Walt Whitman.
Most importantly, I would like to thank all of the authors that submitted papers this year. The competition for publication was fierce and everyone that submitted should be proud of his or her efforts. The six papers selected were chosen for many reasons, including conceptual originality, composition, verbalization, and
writing technique.
May Respondez! 2005 inspire you to participate in future editions.
Sincerely,
T. Min Nemoy Editor-In-Chief
